Nippon Paper Industries Co.
and Daishowa Paper Manufacturing Co. announced that the Fair Trade Commission
has authorized the two companies' business integration plan on certain
conditions.
The two manufacturers are planning to
integrate their operations under a holding company called Nippon Unipac Holding
on March 30, 2001. The move will create Japan's largest paper maker with a 32%
share in the overall market, and an annual production of 5.90 million metric
tons of paper.
