New Website Unveiled

Paper2Paper.net serves the $4 billion industry by offering standard auctions for sellers of recovered paper commodities and reverse auctions for paper mill procurement agents.

According to the company, the site has the strong support of two of the nation's top recycled paper companies, The Peltz Group in the Midwest and Balcones Recycling in Dallas, Texas. Both companies have made a commitment to the site and have lent their expertise to the site's design and development. In addition, Balcones and Peltz's involvement ensures that the site will have a consistent source of supply.

"People in the recycled paper industry are excited about paper2paper, because it will enable market participants to reduce operating costs and increase revenues," said Clay Wilson, president of paper2paper. "It will open new channels of distribution for sellers and provide buyers of recycled paper access to a whole new geographic region of suppliers."

Paper2Paper is different from other Web portals of this type because it doesn't act as a broker. In the process of providing a trading forum, the site does not take title to the product or bill either party for the product. Instead, the site bills both the buyer and seller for 2% of the transaction amount as a fee for its services.

Buyers and sellers' identities are kept confidential until a bid has been selected and the auction is closed. When a buyer and seller are matched, a purchase order is sent to the seller and an invoice is sent to the buyer. The two companies' identities are then revealed to each other, leaving them to complete the transaction.

"Paper2paper is truly a revolutionary development for the recycled paper industry," said Brian Fielkow, chief operating officer of Milwaukee-based The Peltz Group. "Besides being the first business-to-business Web site specifically for the recycled paper industry, paper2paper will immediately offer more tonnage than participants can find on other Internet sites, and the capability to analyze price histories based on actual past trades is invaluable. This site will benefit both sides of the equation - buyers and sellers."

Besides facilitating transactions between buyers and sellers, the site will allow members to take part in discussion groups and conduct a search for a particular product and view overall pricing history, as well as price per region-all the while keeping the users' identity confidential.

In addition, paper2paper will not be without human interaction. Responsive customer service is one of its primary performance goals. An established Customer Response Team is available to help with any registration, trading, training or account reconciliation issues. In addition, every company that registers with paper2paper will be contacted by an account representative to welcome them to the trading community and assist them with any questions.

"Traditional person-to-person interactions have been - and will continue to be - the cornerstone of our industry," said Kerry Getter, president of Balcones Recycling. "Paper2paper will help companies expand their universe of contacts, and is a natural extension of the fast-paced environment in which those buying and selling recycled paper operate. Buyers and sellers want immediacy and quick access to information that will get the deal done and for a fair price. That's what they'll find at paper2paper."

Paper2paper was founded and is managed by M. Clay Wilson, who has been a consultant to the recycling paper industry for seven years and has managed several real-time transaction processing networks. In addition, paper2paper is able to benefit from the experience and knowledge of a group of outside advisors from members of the paper recycling, e-commerce and paper mill industries.
