The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries will hold a seminar this fall titled "The Scrap Buyers' Perspective." The seminar, scheduled for Oct. 15-16 in Dallas, will follow the Metals Identification Seminar, Oct. 13-14 in Dallas.
The seminar on buying scrap aims to provide paper stock dealers and scrap metal recyclers a better understanding of market directions.
Topics to be discussed include the logistics of purchasing recyclables, how purchasing decisions affect a facility's operations, looking at markets from both the sales and purchasing perspectives, the Big Boards, consumer specifications, typical consumer requirements, and quality control programs.
Lead instructors will be James Lawrence, plant manager for ELG Metals, and Richard Lerner, manager of Cycle Systems.
