International Paper announced plans to sell its Retail
Department and Hardware Stores Business Unit. The division consists of folding carton
and retail bag operations in Thomaston, Ga., and Mobile, Ala.
IP also announced plans to close its Cincinnati Shorewood
Packaging folding carton facility.
The decision to sell the Georgia and Alabama facilities
follows the company’s decision to divest itself of operations that will not fit
the company’s long-term strategic objectives.
