International Paper Co. announces plans to raise prices for some of its paper products by around 8 percent, matching similar price hikes made within the past week by Georgia-Pacific Corp. and Weyerhaeuser Co.
The company is scheduling a price increase for printing and writing paper to take affect Sept. 11, also when the two other large paper companies announces their desire to raise prices.
Prices for the grades have been gradually climbing over the past year. Part of the reason for the improved environment has been the ability of the paper industry to better control their inventory levels.
