<B>G-P Promotes Three</B>

Georgia-Pacific Corp.'s board of directors promoted three corporate officers. The board approved the promotion of James Kelley, senior vice president and general counsel, to executive vice president and general counsel. In addition to his current responsibilities, Kelley assumes responsibility for managing the company's chemical division.

Stephen Macadam, senior vice president -- containerboard and packaging, was promoted to executive vice president -- containerboard and packaging/ purchasing. Macadam will assume responsibility for corporate purchasing, in addition to his current responsibilities.

David Paterson, vice president -- electronic commerce, was promoted to senior vice president -- communication papers. In this role, he will have overall responsibility for manufacturing and sales in the company's office and printing papers businesses.

Additionally, Georgia-Pacific announced several changes in responsibilities among its executive officers in connection with the pending acquisition of Fort James Corp.

Lee M. Thomas, executive vice president -- paper and chemicals, now will focus exclusively on the company's tissue businesses, including the Fort James merger. His new title will be executive vice president -- packaged products. Thomas previously had responsibility for communication papers and chemicals. Recently, he oversaw the successful integration of Unisource Worldwide and Wisconsin Tissue into Georgia-Pacific.

Clint M. Kennedy, executive vice president -- pulp and paperboard, will assume additional responsibility for the communication papers business. His new title will be executive vice president -- pulp and paper. He also will assume responsibility for Unisource Worldwide, the company's paper distribution business, and will retain responsibility for the company's pulp business.
