Georgia-Pacific Group, the second largest North American paper and lumber company, will increase paper prices by about 8 percent on Sept. 5. The company will increase prices by $60 a ton for copier paper.
Prices for that paper grade have increased about 15 percent over the past year on rising demand and cutbacks in paper production by companies, analysts said. There are expectations that other paper companies, such as International Paper Co. and Willamette Industries Inc., to raise prices.
