The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency chose Pitney Bowes Inc. as one of its Progream Champs for its WasteWise Program. It is the third year in a row the company has received the award.
The EPA launched WasteWise in 1994 as a voluntary partnership program to help businesses and institutions find practical methods to reduce municipal solid waste, increase recycling, and encourage the buying and manufacturing of products with recycled content.
Pitney Bowes, which initiated the program in 1997, has 18 participating facilities. Last year these facilities reported a 75% recycling rate. More than 818 tons of paper were recycled last year by Pitney Bowes facilities.
