The U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency Waste Wise Program honored partners that achieved significant
results at the 2000 Waste Wise Awards and Recognition Ceremony last month.
Waste Wise recently had their 1,000th member join, the U.S. Postal
Service-Sacramento District.
The program was launched in
January 1994 as a voluntary partnership to help businesses find ways to reduce
solid waste. Waste Wise has announced plans to integrate federal agencies into
the program after successful experiences with state and local government

reduction strategies onsite in three areas of recycling collection, waste
prevention or buying or manufacturing recycled-content products.
