Vallejo
(Calif.) City Council voted for a seven-year, curbside collection program with
Napa Garbage. Previously the city had a contract with Pacific Rim Recycling.
According
to local press reports monthly bills are expected to drop from $2.70 to $1.10
per household. The city received three bids for the citywide program. In
addition to Napa Garbage, Pacific Rim Recycling and Vallejo Garbage submitted
proposals.
Napa
Garbage provides recycling services for several cities in the surrounding area.
These cities have been met the state of California’s mandated diversion rate of
50 percent.
Napa
Garbage currently provides recycling services for American Canyon and the City
of Napa, both of which exceed the state of California’s diversion rate of 50
percent.
The
contract will last seven years. It starts July 1, 2001 and includes an
education element.
