The city of Palo Alto, Calif. launched a web
site designed to allow residents to buy and sell recyclables and reusable
materials. Recyclopedia has more than 60 categories of materials that can be
reused or recycled. Categories range from audiocassettes to yard trimmings. The
site, available to anyone, includes telephone numbers, addresses, hours of
business and other pertinent information for companies and non-profits
accepting various materials.
The site can be found at www.city.palo-alto.ca.us/recycle/recyclopedia.html.
Recyclopedia's information is borrowed from
a database collected by the Center for Development of Recycling, funded by
Santa Clara County.
