PaperExchange to Use J.D. Edwards Services

PaperExchange.com, Inc. is using J.D. Edwards' ActivEra Solutions powered by OneWorld to deliver transaction processing and fulfillment capabilities critical to its growing trading exchange. PaperExchange.com provides a full service offering to buyers and sellers of pulp and paper online. PaperExchange.com has online real-time logistics capabilities and provides a range of credit services, including guaranteed payment for the seller, in accordance with their credit terms. The J.D. Edwards solution will provide the key fulfillment capabilities to the PaperExchange.com site, in conjunction with the current marketplace transaction processing. The solution also covers multiple currencies such as U.S. dollars and Euros, and all the grades of product PaperExchange.com supports including pulp, printing and writing, packaging, newsprint and recovered paper.

ABB, PaperLoop Developing Joint Internet Business Opportunity

ABB announced an alliance with PaperLoop.com, the on-line paper industry marketplace, to jointly develop a new kind of Web portal for the pulp and paper industry. ABB said the alliance is part of its strategy to develop new eBusiness solutions for enhanced customer value.

ABB said development with PaperLoop.com is aimed at creating a new category of Web portal that goes beyond conventional transaction-only or marketing-only sites to put technical information data bases online, offer consulting services via the Web, and provide industrial software that customers can download or use directly online.

``This is part of an aggressive strategy to rapidly develop our eBusiness capabilities, using eBusiness as a tool to deliver our technologies to our customers faster and more efficiently, while also creating new kinds of solutions and new channels to market,'' said Jorgen Centerman, Executive Vice President and head of ABB's Automation Segment.

ABB is the largest supplier of automation and electrical solutions to the pulp and paper industry. ABB is the first major supplier to the pulp and paper industry to take a stake in a third-party online marketplace. PaperLoop.com is the world's leading provider of information to the pulp and paper industry.

PIMA, Forestweb Create Partnership Portal Arrangement

The Paper Industry Management Association and Forestweb Inc. created a strategic Internet alliance and co-branded website to be called PIMA web. The customized site will include content, online searchable databases and member services from PIMA, with Internet technology from Forestweb to provide a platform for pulp and paper industry management issues.

The site, www.pimaweb.com, will be the exclusive Internet distribution channel for PIMA's North American &
Asia Pacific Papermaker Magazines.

Forestweb will contribute customized news, statistics, directories, information and trade features to the PIMA site, as well as the technology for on-line surveys, webcasts and virtual trade shows. The site will provide enhanced services for PIMA members such as a members directory, an interactive buyers' guide, an electronic forum to discuss management issues, and on on-line trading institute.
