The millionth pound of
recyclable material was recycled by Aramark, the authorized concessioneer of
the National Parks Service at Glen Canyon National Recreational Area, Lake
Powell, Utah and Ariz. Recycling efforts at the park include collecting
materials from public locations and then sorting and baling the cardboard,
glass and metals.
The park receives almost three million
visitors each year and has been recognized by local government and the National
Park Service for its environmental efforts.
