American Tissue Inc. announced that they and certain of their affiliates purchased the assets of CST/Star Inc., reportedly the largest independent forms producer in the United States and a distributor of branded and private label paper based office products with eight plants located throughout the country. CST/Star had sales of $160 million in 1999.
Mehdi Gabayzadeh, president and CEO of American Tissue, said that the continued vertical integration of the company's printing and writing paper business has been part of the agenda since the acquisition of the Berlin-Gorham mills in July 1999 and the start up of the Company's affiliate, American Paper Mills of Vermont, this past December.
