The operations Allied received in the transaction are located in Nashville, Clarksville and Memphis, Tenn.; Norfolk, Va.; Augusta, Ga.; Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Albany, N.Y.; El Centro, Calif.; and Mt. Vernon, Ind. The operations Republic Services received in the transaction are located in Louisville, Ky.; Lakeland, Fla.; Macon, Ga.; Columbus, Ohio; Anderson, Ind.; and Cranbury, Marlboro and Mt. Laurel, N.J. The three New Jersey operations will close immediately following approval from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
``With the completion of this asset exchange, Allied has taken another important step toward completing its asset swap program,'' said Tom Van Weelden, Chairman and CEO of Allied Waste. ``We expect these assets to improve internalization and cash flow in existing markets which will contribute to continued reduction in balance sheet leverage.''
