Abitibi-Consolidated announced that it is shutting
down its groundwood paper mill in Trois Rivieres, Que., for between 5-10 days due
to problems with its wastewater treatment equipment. The announcement was made earlier
this week.
The company announced last July that one of the
mill’s two paper machines would close for good during the first quarter of next
year due to the lack of efficient operation.
The mill produces telephone directory paper,
among other types of paper at the site.
