In memoriam: Bruce Zubick

Bruce Zubick, co-owner of John Zubick Scrap Metals, died at 68 from cancer.


Bruce David Zubick, co-owner and operator of London, Ontario-based John Zubick Scrap Metals Ltd., died April 5 from cancer at Parkwood Hospital in London. He was also a member of the Canadian Association of Recycling Industries (CARI) for more than 30 years.

Bruce Zubick's parents, John and Elaine Zubick, started John Zubick Scrap Metals in 1946. Bruce, 68, was well-respected by his employees, colleagues and business associates. According to his obituary, his care and concern for others were demonstrated through his philanthropic support of various organizations.

Bruce Zubick is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara, and his children Tammy Hedges (Shawn), Benjamin Zubick (Mary Jane), Sarah Thompson (Jeff) and Krista Zubick. He is also survived by grandchildren Cooper, Lauryn, Seth, Faith, Caleb, Zachary, Ayden, Jacob and William. He was a brother to Doris England, Ruth Besterd (Norm), Nancy Orosz (Andy), George Zubick (Jill) and Kathy Squires. He is survived by brother-in-law Steve Craig (Sharon) and sister-in-law Lorna Collins (Wayne).

He is predeceased by parents John and Elaine as well as his sister Karen Semenuk and grandson Ethan Zubick.
