Vintage Tech Recyclers, a Chicago-based company that specializes in recycling obsolete electronics, has opened a new 40,000-square-foot operation in Riverside, Mo., near Kansas City.

The company plans to hire 50 people in the next three years at the new location, says Tina Krstulic, general manager of Vintage Tech’s Riverside operation.
The Riverside operation will handle electronics gathered in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Until the new facility is fully operational, obsolete electronics collected at the Riverside facility will be shipped to Vintage Tech’s Chicago operations, where the equipment will be dismantled. As the Riverside facility grows, Vintage Tech says it expects to add dismantling services at the new location.
Vintage Tech Recyclers evaluated several Midwest locations and chose the Kansas City region because of the city’s central location and easy access to interstates and rail.
“We’re starting very slow,” Krstulic says. “We’re not a known name in Kansas City, but we’re very known in Chicago and the upper Midwest.”
