Newly-designed and fabricated 80-inch auto shredder is on display for inspection.
The U.S. Shredder and Castings Group (www.usshredder.com) showed off its first shredding plant at an open house event that took place in Youngstown, Ohio, in early July.
The company’s newly-designed 80108 automobile shredder (with an 80-inch rotor) has been assembled and made available for inspection at the fabrication facility in Youngstown.
At the open house events, several U.S. Shredder executives offered an overview of the company’s capabilities and then provided guided tours of the assembled shredder plant.
Company president Bill Tigner said it will be U.S. Shredder’s standard procedure to pre-assemble its shredding plants at the factory site and then disassemble them before on-site installation at the customer’s facility. “We’ll put it together to make sure it meets our standards, and then this can help shorten the installation timeframe considerably,” said Tigner.
Tigner touted the heavy-duty design and fabrication of the shredder as the signature features that will distinguish U.S. Shredder models in the market.
The thickness of the plate steel plate used throughout the plant was pointed to by Tigner during a guided tour of the 80108 model, which will be shipped to a customer in the southern United States in August.
The debut U.S. Shredder unit will be powered by a 4,000 hp AmeriMex Inc. motor and will be outfitted with 350-pound hammers, according to Barry Sheppard, U.S. Shredder vice president of aftermarket sales.
At the open house event, Tigner credited several manufacturing allies who helped build the 80108 unit and who he says will remain key allies of U.S. Shredder, including U.S. Conveyor Technologies, Mackinaw, Ill., and Pinnacle Engineering, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
