Two More SRS Facilities Achieve OHSAS 18001 Certification

8/30/2010

Sims Recycling Solutions’ two Tennessee facilities are the third and fourth company sites to meet the certification standard.

Sims Recycling Solutions (SRS) has announced that its two facilities in LaVergne, Tenn., have become the third and fourth company facilities in the United States to achieve OHSAS 18001 certification following a third-party audit.

OHSAS 18001 is an international occupational health and safety management system standard designed to enable an organization to control its health and safety risks and to improve its performance.

In a release announcing the awarding of the certification, Michael Taylor, plant manager for the LaVergne facility, says, “The employees of the LaVergne facilities worked very hard to attain the OHSAS 18001 certification. They did an extraordinary job, and it is wonderful to see their efforts rewarded. “We take great pride in our safe work culture. The OHSAS certification is another step in the journey toward our SimsMMway vision of a zero-harm workplace.”

SRS facilities in Reno, Nev., and Chicago recently achieved OSHAS 18001 certification. The company operates 11 sites throughout North America in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, South Carolina, Tennessee and Ontario.
