Sims Recycling Solutions (SRS), wtih Americas headquarters in West Chicago, Ill., has purchased new equipment designed to provide customers in the Washington, D.C., area with the opportunity to witness the physical destruction of up to 1,200 hard drives per day at their locations. The service is designed for customers recycling computers, hard drives and other electronic equipment.
“Sims realizes the importance of continuous improvement and is always looking for ways to better meet the needs of our customers,” says Sean Magann, vice president of SRS, Americas. “Our Washington, D.C., site has a growing business of working with both public and private organizations. With current trends in technology, companies are finding the need more than ever to destroy higher volumes of data. This mobile shredding equipment will provide us with the capability to process higher volumes in a shorter amount of time without sacrificing the security of information stored on hard drives.”
In addition to witnessing their hard drives being shredded on site, certificates of destruction and video copies of the destruction process can be made available to customers on request, SRS says. All shredded material is transported to a SRS facility for further processing and recycling.
The on-site shredding service is permitted to operate in certain states currently. Those seeking more information on the service can visit http://us.simsrecycling.com/Business/Data-Destruction/Onsite-Data-Destruction.
