Alliance Brings Scrap Service to Retail Chains

Two East Coast firms combine to collect and market scrap from auto service centers.

A new agreement between a scrap collection and processing services provider and an international scrap trading firm has been designed to provide comprehensive service to multi-location automotive service chains.

Scrap USA LLC, based in Reading, Pa., will provide collection and processing services to the auto service retailers while Earth Metal Scrap USA Inc., with offices in Glen Oak, N.Y. and North Bergen, N.J., will market the scrap internationally.

According to Vincent J. Smith, CEO of Scrap USA LLC, the agreement between the two companies will help them collect and market scrap from more than 4,000 automotive service locations operated by “some of the most recognizable names” in that retail category.

Earth Metal Scrap USA Inc. (www.earthmetalusa.com) and its CEO Kamal Patel bill the company as an international trading company “providing quality scrap metal materials to steel mill consumers on an international basis through trading offices in North America, India and the United Arab Emirates.”

Scrap USA LLC, says Smith, “provides specialty scrap metal recycling programs to the automotive service center chain store industry throughout North America.” According to Smith, the company places containers at the retail locations and picks them up within 48 hours after the store manager requests pickup service.

Smith says the materials collected by Scrap USA and marketed by Earth Metal Scrap in the new agreement are expected to be about 80 percent ferrous and 20 percent nonferrous metals.

“Under the partnership, Scrap USA will generate foundry-grade scrap metal materials direct from its contracted national suppliers and Earth Metal Scrap USA will provide direct access to its contracted consumers around the globe,” the two companies state in a joint news release.
