Rumpke

Rumpke COO Wins Regional Entrepreneur Award
Rumpke Consolidated Cos. Inc., Colerain Township, Ohio, has announced that its Chief Operating Officer Bill Rumpke Jr. has been named Entrepreneur of the Year for south central Ohio and Kentucky.

The Ernst & Young award recognizes leaders who demonstrate innovation, financial success and personal commitment to their businesses, according to program organizers.

Rumpke will now compete with 23 other entrepreneurs nationwide for a National Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Winners in several national categories will be announced at an annual awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif., Nov. 16, 2013.

Rumpke joined the company in 1978 as a driver and a general laborer before starting up Rumpke’s Central Ohio hauling division in 1988. He was promoted to COO in 2002.

Rumpke Consolidated Cos., formed in 1932, is one of the nation’s largest privately owned residential and commercial waste and recycling firms, providing service to parts of Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia.
 


Mayr

Liebherr Appoints New President
The equipment company Liebherr, headquartered in Newport News, Va., has appointed Peter Mayr president of Liebherr Construction Equipment Co.

Liebherr says Mayr has held a number of executive positions with the company, including his most recent position as managing director for Liebherr-Great Britain Ltd. and Liebherr Rental Ltd. He began his career with Liebherr in 2001.

“I am excited to be joining the Liebherr Construction Equipment Co. as president,” Mayr says. “Together with the core management team I look forward to driving the company’s strategic initiatives, strengthening and growing our distribution and promoting the Liebherr brand.”

Liebherr manufactures equipment for the construction machinery sector.
 


Delacoux

BIR Introduces New Director General
The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), Brussels, has named Alexandre Delacoux its new director general, effective Sept. 1, 2013. He will succeed Francis Veys, who is retiring from the BIR while continuing to serve the association in an advisory capacity.

Delacoux joined the BIR in October 2012 as general manager, gradually taking over more responsibilities.

As director general, Delacoux will manage BIR’s day-to-day operations.

He worked for nearly 10 years for Du Pont de Nemours, a business-to-business company in the chemical industry.
 


Workman

Recycling Today Media Group Adds Associate Editor
Recycling Today Media Group has added Megan Workman as associate editor.

Workman formerly worked at the Charleston Gazette in Charleston, W.Va., for nearly two years as a business reporter. A Springfield, Ohio, native, she is a graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. Workman brings a range of experience in writing and editing to the group.

Workman’s main focus will be on writing and editing for Waterways Today but she also will be contributing across the publishing group’s range of publications, including Recycling Today, Recycling Today Global Edition, Storage & Destruction Business, Renewable Energy from Waste and Construction & Demolition Recycling.

“I’m excited to join the Recycling Today Media Group team and fulfill my career dream of becoming a magazine editor,” says Workman. “GIE Media produces outstanding magazines that cover a diverse range of industries, and I am looking forward to maintaining that integrity.”
