Long-time paper recycler dies at age 88.
Ray Petermeyer, who was involved in the paper recycling industry for 65 years, died in mid-May at the age of 88.
Petermeyer started E-Z Recycling in Portland, Ore., in 1980. The company merged with Far West Fibers, also based in Portland, two years later and Petermeyer worked there until his retirement.
According to a notice sent by the Paper Stock Industries (PSI) Chapter of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI), Petermeyer was president of PSI from 1998 to 2000 and also served several terms on the PSI and ISRI boards of directors.
Petermeyer is survived by his wife, Delores; brothers, Vernon and Robert; children, Nancy Betschart, Steve Petermeyer, John Petermeyer, Pam Donaldson and Susan Brooks; and 28 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
