Novelis Inc., Atlanta, a metals company involved in the aluminum recycling and rolling sector, has announced the departure of Philip Martens as the company’s president and CEO. Replacing Martens as president on an interim basis is Steve Fisher. Novelis says it has begun a search for a permanent CEO.
Martens, a former Ford Motor Co. executive, joined Novelis in 2009. During his tenure with Novelis, the company shifted its focus toward servicing the automobile industry.
Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman of the Novelis board, says, “The board would like to thank Phil for his service to Novelis during a critical time of growth and expansion. Given Steve’s deep knowledge of Novelis and strong support of the rest of the executive team, we have great confidence in his ability to lead the company during this interim period."
Fisher has served as the company’s senior vice president and chief financial officer since 2007 and he will continue to serve in that capacity.
