Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Millennium Recycling Inc. will begin receiving and sorting cartons used for packaging milk, juice, soy milk, broth, soup, wine and other food and beverages, starting April 22, 2013. The company will collect and process aseptic rectangular shaped cartons as well as the familiar gable-top refrigerated cartons.

Millennium Recycling has undergone a year-long renovation of its facility and equipment to allow cartons in its single-stream recycling program. Spring ice and snow posed barriers to the upgrade deadline of April 22, but extra shifts and hard work put the project back on schedule, according to the company.

Millennium Recycling reminds residents that cartons need to be:

  • Emptied of all liquids;
  • Without a cap or straw;
  • Not crushed; and
  • Placed in the single-stream recycling bin.
