The conference organizing group ICM AG will be holding its 15th International Automobile Recycling Congress (IARC) March 25-27, 2015 in Berlin. The 2015 Congress has been designed as a platform to exchange the latest information for attendees on trends and issues impacting the auto recycling industry.
The IARC 2015 Congress will open with two keynote speakers. The first speaker will be Erik Jonnaert, Secretary General of the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), Belgium. His presentation will look at the role of the automotive industry in the context of end-of-life vehicle (ELV) recycling.
The IARC also will have as a keynote speaker Wolfram Thomas, Group Chief Officer for Environment, Energy and New Business Areas at Volkswagen. His remarks will focus on the topic of environmental protection and driving innovation.
Subjects to be discussed during the three-day Congress include:
- how car manufacturers and the recycling industry close the recycling loop;
- the role of the automotive industry in the context of ELV recycling;
- new car design;
- best available recycling technologies;
- reports on Asian, U.S. and European car manufacturers;
- next generation recycling processes and equipment;
- the European ELV Directive toward 2015;
- eE-mobility and its influence on car recycling and dismantling; and
- recycling challenges of new automotive materials, including nickel metal hydride, lithium-ion batteries, carbon fibers, glass, lamps, catalysts.
The congress also will include an exhibition area, a cocktail reception and a networking dinner for attendees.
The congress also is organizing plant tours to recycling facilities near Berlin. Facilities scheduled to be visited include Scholz Recycling’s postshredder technology plant in Espenhain, Germany; and TSR Recycling’s Brandenburg, Germany ferrous metal recycling plant.
