EnviroCom Opens Electronic Scrap Recycling Facility in U.K.

3/5/2010

Company says new plant can process up to 10 percent of the electronic scrap generated in the United Kingdom.

The recycling company environCom, based in the United Kingdom, recently opened a 10-acre electronics recycling in Lincolnshire, U.K. The cost of the facility is around £10 million, and has incorporated what the company says is the best available processing equipment in the market.

The new facility has been designed and built to handle up to 100,000 metric tons of electronic scrap per year, and is the largest of its type in the United Kingdom, according to the company.

According to Business Green, the location is situated on 10 acres, and is split into four separate plants, each specifically designed for different waste streams and treatment processes, and can process all forms of WEEE waste.

“Our recycling capacity is competitive with the biggest facilities in Europe, and we intend to maintain our leading position as we roll out our expansion plans, which include the establishment of a footprint across the U.K. and then into Europe,” says Joe Quigley, chief executive of environCom.
