Austin, Texas-based companies Balcones Recycling and Round2 Inc. have entered into a long-term agreement designed to enhance the breadth of their recycling capabilities.

“Our expertise is recycling electronics, while Balcones Recycling focuses on items like paper, plastic and aluminum,” Jeff Mangles, director of marketing for Round2, says. “Our clients are going to be able to access the best of both recycling worlds.”

“Balcones is extremely excited to partner with Round2,” says Kerry Getter, Balcones CEO. “We’re now able to offer our customers a more integrated solutions package to their sustainability needs. Round2 is a quality company that mirrors our philosophy related to the consistent delivery of a positive customer experience.”

Mangles adds, “This strategic relationship allows each of our customers to streamline their recycling efforts,” saying that it also will provide a cost savings for the companies’ clients.

Balcones Recycling was recently awarded 60 percent of the city of Austin’s curbside recycling contract.
Additionally, Balcones currently recycles about 80 percent of downtown Austin’s office buildings and 70 percent of downtown Dallas’ offices.

With the Round2 partnership, Balcones Recycling says it expects to see a 30 percent increase in diversion rates for 2011. The company diverted 127,000 tons of recyclables from landfill in 2010.

“Our strategic partnership will be a huge benefit to our combined customer base,” says Randy Weiss, Round2 president and CEO. “Partners like Balcones Recycling allow us to provide additional services to our e-recycling offering with ease and confidence knowing that they share our commitment to sustainable solutions.”

Balcones Resources has locations in Austin and Dallas as well as in Little Rock, Ark. The company focuses on the collection and processing of several grades of paper, plastic and aluminum. Additionally the firm offers a wide range of customized environmental services, ranging from recycling expertise and SingleCycle recycling programs to document destruction, equipment sales and leasing and solutions for hard-to-recycle items.

Round2 is a leading electronics recycler offering a wide range of integrated asset disposition, technology recovery and recycling solutions. The company is R2 (Responsible Recycling Practices) certified, ISO 9001: 2008 and 14001: 2004 registered and OHSAS 18001: 2007 registered.
