Synetic Technologies adds electronic media destruction vehicle

Synetic Technologies, an asset disposition firm headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, has announced the arrival of the Data Annihilator, what it claims is the Kansas City metro area's first destruction vehicle for hard drives and other electronic storage media. 

“Many companies have IT assets that contain proprietary information,” says Gary Agness, vice president of Synetic Technologies. “Internal policy prohibits these assets from leaving the premises before the proprietary data they contain [are] destroyed.”

The Data Annihilator is a self-contained mobile hard drive shredder, according to Synetic. From the inside of the truck, hard drives and associated media are loaded onto a conveyor belt that transports the devices to the shredder. The shredder’s four rotating cylinders grind the devices until they are small enough to fit through the shredder’s screen into a collection bin.

According to Synetic, the devices are rendered breach-proof in accordance with the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) standard and then recycled according to R2/RIOS (Responsible Recycling Practices/Recycling Industry Operating Practices) policies.

Clients can witness the destruction from inside the truck or via a tablet in the comfort of their offices, the company adds.
