The electronics recycling firm Sims Recycling Solutions (SRS), headquartered in West Chicago, Ill., has announced a three-year agreement with the state of California’s San Bernardino County Fire Department Household Hazardous Waste Division to be a part of the county’s residential household hazardous waste program.

Under the agreement, SRS will receive all electronic scrap collected for recycling through the county’s staffed events and municipal programs. Multiple locations will be set up as permanent residential collection sites and additional events will be held as needed.

“Recycling in a green and economically efficient manner is important and we are pleased to be working with a county that takes the proper disposal of electronic waste seriously,” says Steve Skurnac, president of SRS. “Collaborating with the largest county in the United States is an exciting opportunity that will allow Sims to offer the most secure and responsible recycling of electronic waste in the industry to a select area.”

The agreement began Sept. 11, 2013.

In North America, SRS operates sites in Arizona, British Columbia, California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, Ontario, Quebec, Tennessee and Texas.
