“The decision was unanimous,” says Doug Gowland, a member of Rumpke’s board. “The time is right. Bill continues to grow Rumpke in market share and market size while elevating attention to research, innovation, compliance, customer service and employee development.”

“I’m honored to accept this position and I’m very much looking forward to the challenge,” says Rumpke. “I would like to thank my father who has played such an integral role in my education of the business and industry. I am also grateful for our team of blood relatives and our extended family of 2,600 employees who come to work each and every day sharing their best skills, insights and talents to assist us in reaching our vision for the company.”

During his 12-year tenure as COO, Rumpke’s revenues grew by 78 percent. Throughout that time, the company experienced unprecedented growth and acquired nearly 100 smaller firms, the company says. Meanwhile, over the past 10 years the company also has expanded its service region to four states: Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia.

Rumpke replaces his father and long-time President and CEO William J. Rumpke Sr., who will hold the title of president emeritus and remain chairman of the board for Rumpke Consolidated Companies Inc., as well as president of both Rumpke Enterprises Inc. and Legacy Inc.
