Steinert US Showcases New Cincinnati-area Headquarters
Steinert US Inc. celebrated the opening of its new headquarters facility in Walton, Ky., with a charity golf outing and open house Sept. 19-20, 2012.

The company had outgrown its previous 7,000-square-foot location in nearby Cincinnati and was showcasing its new sales and service presence for customers.

Steinert’s companion golf outing, held Sept. 19, raised close to $22,000 for the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Speaking at the event, Steinert US President Jason Looman said the Walton location is an ideal hub for the company, which continues to serves as the North American headquarters of Steinert Elektromagnetbau GmbH, a manufacturer of separation technology solutions for the scrap, waste and mining industries based in Cologne, Germany.

Steinert US was established in the United States in 2003 and has grown markedly over the last decade, Looman said. The company manufactures a comprehensive line of magnetic and sensor-sorting equipment designed to separate and recover a wide range of materials.

The newly remodeled 36,000-square-foot building houses an equipment testing lab and will be used for sales demonstrations, training and on-site equipment repairs. It also will stock a comprehensive spare parts inventory and support the company’s field service technicians located throughout the U.S. Looman also said a production line for mining-related equipment would be installed.

Among the company’s newest product achievements is its KSS Combination Sensor System, an automatic shape, color and volume sorting plant designed for use in the mining, scrap and waste industries. Looman said he was especially proud of the testing lab located immediately outside the building.

“For many years we shipped materials to Germany for testing,” he said. “Putting in the equipment here gives customers an opportunity to see their materials run.”

The test lab houses an induction separation system, a KSS Combination shape/color sorter, an eddy current system, a UniSort NIR (near infrared) plant and a single-stage ferrous preseparator.

Pacific Steel & Recycling Installs New Equipment
Pacific Steel & Recycling has announced that it is in the process of installing a stationary shear at its scrap metal facility in Spokane, Wash. The foundation for the shear, purchased from Finland-based Metso, was started on July 5, 2012, with the company pouring concrete the middle of July. The company says it has poured 750 yards of concrete for the shear.

The main shear body was delivered to the company Aug. 15, 2012, for assembly. When fully operational, the company says it expects the new shear to process 50 tons of material per hour.

Kevin Holcomb, a representative of Pacific Steel & Recycling, says the new shear will replace an earlier shear that has outlived its usefulness. The older shear, which will be scrapped once the new shear is installed, was installed nearly 12 years ago.

Pacific Steel also is in the process of upgrading the downstream system at its auto shredder in Mayfield, Idaho, with a KSS system that features a larger, more powerful compressor. Pacific Recycling says the upgrade will enable the company to extract more copper scrap from its auto shredder fluff. The system will be added to the downstream system from Steinert, Walton, Ky., presently at the site.

“This 75th anniversary commemorative trailer has significant meaning for our company and the entire Talbert team,” Smith continues. “We want to share this celebration with our dealers and customers who have spent so many years as our partners, as well as those new to Talbert.”
