January Event Focuses on Aluminum

Platts Aluminum Symposium includes speakers from Aleris, Novelis and Alcoa.

The 2014 version of the Platts Aluminum Symposium has been scheduled for Jan. 12-14 at the Marriott Harbor Beach in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Programming at the event includes sessions on aluminum scrap supply and demand, automotive industry conditions and economic trends affecting demand for finished aluminum.

Panelists at the aluminum scrap session include:

  • Ted Lehmann, vice president of metal procurement with Aleris International, Cleveland;
  • Kevin Ferguson, vice president of procurement with Alexin LLC, Bluffton, Ind.
  • Michael Boyle, director of metal management with Alcoa, New York; and
  • Walt Drosdick, senior aluminum trader with the Giampaolo Group, Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

Other companies represented on the speaker roster at the three-day event include General Motors Corp., Novelis Inc., Rio Tinto Alcan, ArcelorMittal, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and the London Metal Exchange.
