The global recycling community is set to gather in Dubai for a pair of industry events. The Paper & Plastic Recycling Conference Middle East will convene 3 – 5 March while the Metals Recycling Conference Middle East will convene 5 – 7 March.

The events are jointly produced by Dubai, U.A.E. based Waste & Recycling Middle East magazine and the Recycling Today Media Group, based in Richfield, Ohio. They are designed for firms involved in collecting, processing and trading recycled commodities as well as consumers of those materials. Government bodies involved in public policy development and the provision of public services will also benefit from the events as do producers of consumer products concerned with end-of-life management.

“The conferences have been designed as top-level, networking events” explained Jim Keefe, Group Publisher of Recycling Today. “As recycling infrastructure continues to grow throughout the GCC and broader MENA region we saw the clear need for events that provided local perspective in the framework of a global view” added Taher Patrawala, Publisher of Waste & Recycling Middle East.

Delegates to each event will have the opportunity to hear from leading industry analysts including Standard Chartered Bank and Standard & Poors. Leading global recycling firms and materials producers such as Sims Recycling Solutions, Sims Metal Management and Novelis will also appear on the programs. Major regional firms such as WARAQ (Arab Paper Manufacturing, Ltd), Sharif Metals, Kuwait Recycling, Beéah, ALA Metals and Alaa Plastics, to name just a few, will make presentations.

The events also have important international participation through involvement of the China Metals Recycling Association, the Metals Recycling Association of India and the Indian Agro & Recycled Paper Mills Association. As well, the China Metals Recycling Association will be leading a delegation of its members on a tour or recycling facilities arranged by the conference organizers.

“Both events have been constructed to provide critical insights to our delegates but also to provide essential networking time. Discussing operations and market opportunities is just as important as the sessions” commented Patrawala. “We’ve been very focused on developing programs that provide the insights of key market analysts but also include a view from the field by including industry participants, both regionally and globally, on the program added Mr. Keefe.

The events will be held at the Hyatt Regency Dubai. Interested parties can learn more by visiting the conference websites, and
