The aluminum company Novelis, based in Atlanta, has named Manfred Stanek vice president of strategy and chief commercial officer. In his new roles, Stanek will be responsible for developing Novelis' global strategy and leading the commercial organizations for the company's automotive, can and specialty products.  He will report directly to Phil Martens, Novelis president and CEO, and wil serve as a member of the Novelis Global Operating Committee.

"Novelis is approaching an inflection point in the execution of our long-term business plan," Martens says. "Manfred brings a wealth of experience to his new role and I am confident he will lead our global strategy and commercial teams to accelerate Novelis' growth and further develop our global business strategy."

Stanek joined Novelis in 2012 as director of specialty products for South America and most recently served as vice president of commercial and strategy for the region. He joined the company from Houston-based U.S. Zinc, where he served as CEO from 2009-2012. Prior to that, Stanek was commercial director for Votorantim Metals in Sao Paulo.
