Minneapolis-based IT asset disposition company MPC will open an 111,000-square-foot technology and electronics disposition processing facility in Philadelphia in the first quarter of 2011. The new MPC facility will help the company’s East Coast clients meet their sustainability initiatives.
The MPC processing facility will take in electronic material and IT assets and provide disposition and remarketing services, chain of custody and risk mitigation services and zero-landfill strategy development.
MPC estimates that its Philadelphia facility will process about 15 million pounds of material in its first year.
“We expect to grow here,” says Todd Schachtman, MPC chief business development officer. “MPC is opening its first East Coast processing facility to meet rising demand and to deliver more efficient service to our customers.”
Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell says, “Not only did MPC choose to locate this facility in the city rather than another site on the East Coast, but it committed to create at least 90 jobs within three years as part of its agreement with the commonwealth.”
The Governor’s Action Team coordinated the project at the state level.
Pennsylvania provided MPC with a $230,000 funding offer through its Department of Community and Economic Development that included an opportunity grant, job training assistance and job creation tax credits.
MPC employs nearly 200 people and holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and R2 certifications. Founded in 1983, MPC provides chain of custody solutions, asset remarketing programs and risk mitigation services for environmental and data security initiatives.
