Metalico Adds to Senior Staff

Scrap metal recycling company appoints vice president of engineering and shredding operations and general manager.

Metalico Inc., a scrap metal recycling company headquartered in Cranford, N.J., has appointed Joseph McGough to the position of vice president of engineering and shredder operations for its scrap metal recycling subsidiaries.

McGough has more than 30 years of experience in industrial plant construction and operations. He has assisted Metalico with installing and starting up its Buffalo, N.Y.-area auto shredder. The shredder is expected to produce as much as 150,000 tons of product per year.
In his new position, McGough will supervisor Metalico’s shredders in Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Youngstown, Ohio. According to Metalico, McGough presently is overseeing the rebuilding of the company’s Youngstown shredder, which is expected to be operational by the end of the second quarter of 2012.
Prior to joining Metalico, McGough was a regional project manager for Sims Metal Management, with responsibility for several facilities in the Western United States. He also worked for OneSteel Recycling USA as well as its Smorgon Steel Recycling Inc. predecessor.
Metalico also announced the promotion of Daniel Caumo to general manager. Caumo, vice president of ferrous sales and logistics for Metalico’s scrap business, has taken on the added duties of general manager for Metalico Pittsburgh’s Brownville yard, which also operates under the name Assad Iron & Metals.
Caumo has worked for Metalico and its predecessor companies in western Pennsylvania since 1996, excluding two years when he worked as a commercial trader for Strauss Industries of West Virginia.
In his new position, Caumo will have the primary responsibility for day-to-day operations at Metalico’s Brownsville site.
