The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), Washington, has opened the entry period for the 2017 Transportation Safety Awards, sponsored by the RecycleGuard Insurance Program. The program, now in its fifth year, includes four categories—Best Fleet, Pacesetter, Driver of the Year and the ISRI Golden Wrench—recognizing outstanding safety records.

The Safe Driver Award recognizes outstanding drivers from ISRI member companies who have driven a minimum of 20 years without a preventable accident. One driver is selected as the ISRI Safe Driver of the Year, with second and third place award recipients also being recognized.
The Fleet Safety Award honors ISRI member companies with the most progressive, effective fleet safety programs. This program consists of two award categories (Best in Class and Pacesetter). Small, intermediate, medium and large company fleets are recognized.
The Golden Wrench Award will be given to the best heavy vehicle maintenance technician or manager who exhibits outstanding efforts, achievements and contributions to ensure that commercial motor vehicles are safe on the road. One technician is selected as the Golden Wrench Award winner, with second and third place award recipients also being recognized.
Entry forms and additional information can be found online. All entries are due by Feb. 28, 2017. The awards will be presented during ISRI’s Annual Convention & Exposition, April 22-27 in New Orleans.
