The 2014 ELV Workshop is a half-day event focusing on the end-of-life vehicle (ELV) dismantling, depollution, component reuse and recycling process. It’s an ideal opportunity for those involved in automobile production and the value chain supplying vehicles in the region, as well as government officials, to explore current best practices and network.
The workshop will be held at the JW Marriott Marquis hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is being organised on a joint venture basis by Dubai-based Media Fusion, the publisher of Waste & Recycling Middle East magazine, and the Recycling Today Media Group. The event is being held in conjunction with the Middle East Metals Recycling Conference.
“The management of end-of-life vehicles is an increasingly important issue throughout the GCC,” says Dr. Kayyum Ali, CEO of Media Fusion. “The event represents an excellent opportunity for those involved in the governmental and regulatory sector as well as motorcar manufacturers, battery and component suppliers and the auto repair, salvage and scrap metal sectors to compare notes on this crucial subject,” he adds.
Group Publisher Jim Keefe of the Recycling Today Media Group comments, “Environmental regulation and management continues to play a role in the processing of ELVs, as does maximizing the value of the auto parts and commodities recovered from them. The workshop will provide local insights in a global context while also offering tremendous networking opportunities.”
The organisers of the ELV Workshop say it will be open to all delegates attending the Middle East Metals Recycling Conference as well as to nondelegates but that workshop registrations are limited. Interested parties are encouraged to register early. Delegates who attend both events will pay just $150 for the ELV Workshop; otherwise, registration is $275.
Among the topics covered at the ELV Workshop in Dubai will be:
• ELV forecasts for the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) region;
• GCC region ELV government permitting considerations;
• The depollution process;
• Innovative and automated parts salvage and sales systems; and
• The shredding plant purchase decision process.
The two media organisations also collaborate each year on Paper & Plastics Recycling Conference Middle East, which debuted in 2012. The third version of that conference will take place 4-5 March, 2014, also at the JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai.
