The packaging and paper recycling firm DS Smith, based in the United Kingdom, has promoted Gareth Jenkins to the position of managing director of its U.K. packaging division.

Jenkins has been with DS Smith for 20 years and has held 10 different positions with the company, most recently as sector director for retail corrugated covering eight operating units in the UK.

“As the UK economy recovers, we have seen new confidence in corrugated as an effective, adaptable packaging material,” Jenkins says. “Our customers need us to deliver not only competitive, innovative products but a really sustainable proposition that supports their valuable brands. And how many people know that we collect and recycle over 80 percent of all the corrugated cardboard boxes we make.”

“At DS Smith, we've made some significant investments in our packaging business in recent years, and as one of the leading suppliers in the U.K., we will continue to introduce new technology that delivers value for our customers,” Jenkins continues. “I'm looking forward to leading a great UK team and believe we have an exciting future in the corrugated industry in the UK.”
