Brightmark receives ISCC Plus certification

Brightmark, a global waste solutions provider in San Francisco, has announced its Ashley, Indiana, plastics renewal facility has been ISCC Plus certified. The company says the certification ensures compliance with high ecological and social sustainability requirements, greenhouse gas emissions savings and traceability throughout the supply chain

“Brightmark is proud to receive ISCC Plus certification for our flagship Ashley, Indiana, plastics renewal facility,” says Bob Powell, founder and CEO of Brightmark. 

According to a news release from Brightmark, the ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) Plus certification ensures that biomass is not produced on land with high biodiversity and high carbon stock and good agricultural practices are applied. The certification also ensures that sustainable material is traceable through supply chains and greenhouse gas reduction targets are met. 

The company says the certification is provided by SCS Global Services, a company specializing in sustainability standards and third-party certification based in Emeryville, California.

According to Brightmark, its Ashley plastics renewal facility will divert 100,000 tons of plastic scrap annually and convert it into 18 million gallons of ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel, naphtha blend stocks and 6 million gallons of wax. The Ashley facility is expected to open in 2022.
