The U.K.-based resource recovery firm Axion Consulting has added several new services to its portfolio of programs for the recycling and waste management sectors. The firm is now offering expert opinion and arbitration advice services that seek to provide engineering expert advice on recycling and waste processes in cases of industrial and commercial disputes.
Issues covered for clients by Axion’s engineering staff include litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation. Axion Consulting, which has experience as both a plant supplier and plant operator, will now be offering its staff as experts to offer advice and opinion in disputes over processing plants or items of equipment that are not achieving their design requirements or capabilities, in terms of tonnage, machine availability, product yield and purity and machine effectiveness.
“From our own thorough technical understanding of recycling processes and plants, we have noticed an increasing demand from clients requesting help in this highly specialized area,” says Simon Wilkinson, Axion’s principal engineer.
“We understand that changes to infeed material — such as variations in composition, biodegradability, density or moisture — can have detrimental effects on waste processing and recycling plant performance leading to contractual disputes that need to be resolved,” Wilkinson adds.
He adds, “We can examine evidence and provide independent technical reports on whole plants, processes and individual pieces of equipment that are not operating according to design specifications. Capital (CAPEX) and operating (OPEX) estimates for plant modifications or replacement equipment and machinery can also be supplied.”
Axion Consulting is part of the Axion Group, which develops and operates resource recovery and processing solutions for recycling various materials.
