Ameri-Shred Introduces Diverse Destruction System

2/2/2010

Equipment supplier introduces system designed to give destruction companies more processing options.

The Diverse Destruction System (DDS) from Ameri-Shred, Alpena, Mich., is designed to offer secure destruction firms that are running strip-cut shredders the option to divert material through a primary shredder to produce a smaller particle size.

According to Steve Idalski of Ameri-Shred, the company’s customers prefer strip-cut shredders for their sustained high throughput and low maintenance and also for their bale quality. However, some clients of secure destruction firms have been requesting a smaller particle size, and Ameri-Shred says it has designed the DDS to offer destruction professionals space-saving versatility.

The DDS consists of a conveyor system that can be configured to feed a primary shredder that discharges onto a dual-directional conveyor. By selecting the direction of the conveyor, it will either feed the existing strip-cut shredder to further reduce the particle size of the paper or move the material to a baler or simply discharge it. The setup also allows both shredders to be run independently of one another. The result is not only a choice of shred size but the ability to independently offer product destruction, Idalski says.

The system can be configured with new or existing equipment and enables a variety of design options, according to Ameri-Shred.
