WMRA Upgrades Single-Stream MRF

Company’s Tulare, Calif., MRF adds OCC processing system.

Waste Management Recycle America (WMRA; www.recycleamerica.com) of Tulare, Calif., has added an OCC (old corrugated containers) processing system to the front end of its single-stream material recovery facility (MRF). The upgrade was designed and will be installed by Van Dyk Baler Corp., Stamford, Conn.

According to a press release issued by Van Dyke Baler Corp., the upgrade includes a Bollegraaf Drumfeeder, which is designed to reduce material surges and to produce a better feed to the rest of the system.

After the presort, the material will be processed over a patented Bollegraaf OCC screen to recover OCC and small chip board. The OCC will be diverted to a bunker to be phished to the baler feed conveyor, according to Van Dyk. The unders from the OCC screen will be conveyed to the existing system for additional processing.
