Turkey-based company acquires scrap yard from Interseroh.
, a Turkey-based scrap metal recycling firm with operations in Turkey as well as parts of southern Europe, has acquired Interseroh
’s scrap facility in Bremen, Germany. The facility is the first for Tekeli in Germany, according to Mehmet Cetin, an official with the company. Tekeli also is looking at making a number of other acquisitions of scrap facilities throughout Europe.
Cetin notes that the facility, which operated under the name Jade Stahl GmbH, has an auto shredder and shear in operation at the location.
Following the purchase, Jade Stahl still owns a number of other scrap recycling facilities throughout Germany.
Cetin notes that the purchase of the German scrap yard will go toward providing Tekeli’s iron foundry in Turkey with the raw material needed.
In addition to purchasing the yard, the company says it will look to grow the newly acquired facility’s processing size by close to 40 percent, to 10,000 metric tons per month by the middle of 2014.
Tekeli also has a number of other projects and installations that they are slated to complete by the first half of 2014. Cetin says the company recently opened the first cable recycling facility in Turkey, and is in the process of opening another facility, which will be dedicated to refrigerator recycling in Turkey. That plant will be the first refrigerator recycling plant in the country as well.
The company is looking to acquire two more shears as well as another auto shredding system to its Turkish locations.
