Karen Renner named Georgia CIO of the Year.
The Georgia CIO Leadership Association
has named Karen Renner, Novelis
chief information officer (CIO) and vice president, its Georgia CIO of the Year. Renner was presented with the award as the top technology executive at a ceremony the association hosted in Atlanta in late October 2013.
As CIO, Renner is responsible for the development and execution of the company’s global information technology and business information strategy. Under her leadership, Novelis says it has undergone a significant technology transformation, including the deployment of global standards, the introduction of new tools and support to enable employees to work more efficiently, and the implementation of an enterprise resource planning platform.
Renner joined Novelis from General Electric in 2010, where she spent nearly 20 years in senior IT leadership roles.
"Karen's leadership has been critical to the company's successful transformation into a globally integrated industry leader over the last few years and this impressive recognition is so well deserved," says Phil Martens, Novelis president and CEO. "She is a technology executive who is a strong business partner, an innovative and strategic thinker and an advocate for her employees. We are very fortunate to have Karen on our team."
