CONFERENCE UPDATE

Last Chance. . .

The Recycling Today Media Group will hold its annual Paper Recycling Conference & Trade Show Oct. 14-16 in Downtown Chicago. If you haven't registered, make sure to do so before it is too late.

This year's conference includes a diverse roster of speakers and interesting sessions that touch on many aspects of the recycling industry. This year's conference also will include a representative from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago who will provide an overview of the U.S. economy.

Other key sessions to be held during the conference include:

  • Monday, Oct. 15, 10:30 a.m. to noon – The Economy in the Forest Products Industry. Speakers include Tobias Crabtree of Standard & Poor’s and Hannah Zhao with RISI, who will provide a deep-dive look into the industry and factors that will affect it in the future.
  • Monday, Oct. 15, 3 to 4 p.m. – The Changing Face of Industry Pricing Indexes. The last year has seen new indexes introduced to the market as well as changes to established indexes. This session features speakers Todd Petracek from RISI (Official Board Markets) and Peter Stewart from Forest2Market, who will discuss how their indexes are combined and serve the industry.
  • Monday, Oct. 15, 1 to 2:30 p.m. – Beyond Borders. This roundtable discussion will bring together a panel of industry veterans to examine the roles of emerging markets and provide insight on how international trade of recovered fiber is likely to develop.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 16, 8:30 to 10 a.m. - Milling Around. This session examines how mills are responding to changes in recovered fiber supply.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 16, 1 to 2 p.m. - The Business of Sustainability. Panelists detail sustainabillity efforts on the part of retailers and consumer products companies and the opportunities they create for recycling firms.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2:30 to 4 p.m. The Processing Curve: Defining Quality in the Face of Changing Processing. This session will bring together processors to discuss changes to the collection of recyclables. The panel will discuss how the changes affect operations and the quality of recovered recyclables.

The Paper Recycling Conference includes an exhibit hall featuring more than 60 suppliers to the paper and plastics recycling industries. In addition to the opening reception, the exhibit hall hosts numerous refreshment breaks and lunches Monday and Tuesday, providing attendees with ample opportunity for networking with other industry professionals as well as with suppliers.
