Conference Update

Bowling Tournament Benefits PSI Scholarship Fund

Paper Recycling Conference & Trade Show attendees may end up in the gutter, but they’ll have fun and raise money for the Paper Stock Industries (PSI) Scholarship Fund during the group’s inaugural bowling tournament Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, from 9 to 11 p.m. at Lucky Strike Chicago.

The tournament is being held in conjunction with the Paper Recycling Conference & Trade Show, Oct. 14-16, in downtown Chicago at the Marriott Magnificent Mile. The conference is hosted by the Recycling Today Media Group and the PSI chapter of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI).

In addition to networking events like the bowling tournament, the Paper Recycling Conference & Trade Show features a diverse educational programming, which includes sessions organized by the PSI chapter of ISRI. The PSI-sponsored sessions at this year’s conference are:

  • Monday, Oct. 15, 10:30 a.m. to noon – The Economy in the Forest Products Industry. This session features economists from RISI and Standard & Poor’s who study the forest products industry. The speakers include Tobias Crabtree of Standard & Poor’s and Hannah Zhao with RISI, who provide a deep-dive look into the industry and factors that will affect it in the future.
  • Monday, Oct. 15, 3 to 4 p.m. – The Changing Face of Industry Pricing Indexes. The last year has seen new indexes introduced to the market as well as changes to established indexes. This session, moderated by Robin Wiener, executive director of ISRI, features speakers Todd Petracek from RISI (Official Board Markets) and Peter Stewart from Forest2Market, who discuss how their indexes are combined and serve the industry.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 16, 10:30 a.m. to noon – PSI Chapter Meeting.
The Paper Recycling Conference includes an exhibit hall featuring more than 60 suppliers to the paper and plastics recycling industries. In addition to the opening reception, the exhibit hall hosts numerous refreshment breaks and lunches Monday and Tuesday, providing attendees with ample opportunity for networking with other industry professionals as well as with suppliers.
