For more information about the conference, visit middleeast.paperrecyclingconference.com.

The 2012 Paper Recycling Conference & Trade Show, Oct. 14-16 in downtown Chicago at the Marriott Magnificent Mile, offers a diverse educational program for the recovered paper industry. This year’s conference also includes sessions on plastics, an area of growing interest for traditional paper recyclers.

Joining speakers Robes Nelson of Cellmark Recycling, Patty Norris of Federal International and Cees Van Berkel of CVB Ecologistics at the Monday, Oct. 15, session titled “Beyond Borders” is Alex Tomadin of Future Fibers. In this session, the panel examines the roles of emerging markets and provides insight on how the international trade of recovered fiber is likely to develop.

Tuesday morning’s keynote session, “Milling Around," features Benoit Gratton of Cascades, Matt Nightingale of FutureMark Paper, Myles Cohen of Pratt Industries and moderator Bill Moore of Moore & Associates in a discussion of how mills are responding to changes in recovered fiber supply.

Also scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 16, is the session “The Business of Sustainability.” In this session, panelists detail sustainability efforts by retailers and consumer products companies and the opportunities they create. Moderated by Betsy Dorn of StewardEdge USA Inc., the panel includes John Mulcahey, Georgia-Pacific Corp.;  Elisabeth Comere, Tetra Pak; and Laura Rowell, Sonoco Packaging.

Later on Tuesday, “Residual Effects” examines changing materials streams and processing methodologies. Speakers include Sean Duffy of ReCommunity, Karl Mockros of Waste Management Inc., Tim Horkay of TFC Recycling and Hilary Gans of Rethink Waste.

In addition to its diverse educational programming, the Paper Recycling Conference includes an exhibit hall featuring more than 60 suppliers to the paper and plastics recycling industry.
